Field Trip 4/28

Great way to finish the week. Our visitors today got to explore the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Spiral. We discuss the Fibonacci sequence using squares of different side lengths, we use calipers with different ratios to measure the rectangles generated by the sequence of squares. We discover the ratio of length to width gets close to Phi. The group draw the sequence and the spiral in wonderful colors. The younguer audiences got to explore the book mirrors, their beautiful symmetry and discover that a polygon with infinitely many sides becomes a circle. They also created the famous snake with the Jr. Blocks, but adventure in creating their own figures. Bravo! All in all another happy math day at the Houston House of Math! Thank you all for participating.
